A New World Currency - Astrological Predictions

One of the many things I love about the subject of Astrology, is that it can be applied not only on a personal level – to your health, your career, your finances, your relationships, but also to national and international events.

For the purposes of this blog, I have examined the natal charts of three countries in depth: the USA, the UK and Japan. I took a look at how their progressions and transits are affecting their currencies, their economies and what the perspective is for their future.

Let me begin by stating, that I predict that there will be a new world currency in the years to come. When this cycle is complete, the way we use and create money around the world will have changed completely. We will be in a totally new paradigm and the global arena of finance and economics will be transformed. How the new currency will ultimately come together, I cannot yet say, however, it could be a global currency – one for the whole world, it could be a mixture of three currencies coming together, for example, the USA, Europe and an Asian currency. Many talk about the Amero being introduced in the USA – to amalgamate the currencies of the US, Canada and Mexico. There are many possibilities. However, what is clear, is that the whole system needs to change dramatically and there will be a new world system of money.

In my view, there will need to be complementary currencies that are used in tandem with the national currencies. We are moving inexorably towards local communities, sustainability and local means of exchanging goods and services. Climate change, peak oil and the economic crisis are forcing us to think and act locally and to become more self-sufficient.

The USA has three planets in the second house of money one of which is Venus which rules the nation’s currency. During the next 5-7 years, transiting Pluto in Capricorn in the 8th house is making an opposition to natal Venus in Capricorn in the 2nd house. This is going to be a constant stress point over this time period with Pluto alternately opposing Venus and Jupiter. By 2014, transiting Pluto in Capricorn is in opposition to natal Sun in Cancer. All this activity is taking place in the two houses of money. Remember too, that natally, the USA has Pluto in Capricorn in the 9th house, so this transit is going to be particularly transformative. The greatest stress comes during the period of 2009-2015. With Pluto in opposition for this extended time period, there are going to be repeated challenges with respect to the US dollar and the way people earn their living.

Pluto means endings of situations and things that are past their “sell by” date. Pluto in the 8th house will unearth all situations pertaining to investments and money that have been hidden. Any unscrupulous dealings will come out into the open and Pluto in Capricorn can be very harsh in its judgment and actions where integrity has been compromised. You can expect to see many more financial debacles over the next several years. When the experts say that this crisis is half way through – don’t believe them. It has a long way to go yet and Pluto is going to unearth many more hidden scams and schemes. Pluto also encourages transformation, so don’t be surprised if month after month more and more is revealed. It is going to be shocking – even more shocking than it has been.

Leaders are going to have to come up with new solutions. Doing the same thing repeatedly and hoping for a different answer is just not going to work. The fact that Pluto in Capricorn is opposing the natal Venus in Cancer in the 2nd house, means that the very way that the people of the US sustain themselves will be under threat. Cancer rules food, medicine, health care and these are all areas that will be challenged. Capricorn rules the banking system, large corporations and governments. This will not be all doom and gloom, because although Pluto does destroy, it also makes space for the new to be born. However, in the meantime, it will be a rough ride for many.

By the end of October 2009, Saturn goes into Libra. In the US natal chart, Saturn is in Libra, and in December 2010, March 2011 and August-September 2011, it makes an exact conjunction with the natal Saturn of the USA. While this is happening, short cuts will not work. It means that hard work and dedication will be required in all fields. However, the fact that Saturn is exalted in Libra can also signify that if the US government and its leaders bring about justice for its people and doesn’t continue to rip them off, then Saturn in Libra has the possibility of bringing about a new stability and security for the country. However, as always with Saturn, whatever has not been done properly, or skimmed over, will have to be redone or it will not succeed.

In December 2009, transiting Uranus in Pisces in the 11th house is in direct opposition with natal Neptune in Virgo in the 5th house. This could well stimulate issues in the Middle East again, especially as Uranus rules Israel and the 11th house is associated with allies and friends. With Neptune in opposition, the USA may not see the issues clearly and may be forced to act in a crisis (Uranus).

In April 2011, transiting Uranus in Aries in the 11th house is square natal Venus in Cancer in the 2nd house. Once again, I see this as huge stress on the US dollar with unforeseen shocks and sudden events being the flavour of this difficult square. The US could be forced to change direction at this point with respect to their economy and financial position. Also at this time, natal Sun in Cancer in the 2nd house is square to transiting Saturn in Libra in the 5th house. This could mean some very hard lessons for the US and possibly a devaluation of its currency. The 5th house rules speculation and with Saturn there, it will not be a time for the US to be taking financial risks. It will be a time for tightening its belt, for frugality and for making best use of resources.

In October 2012, there are three important squares: transiting Uranus in Aries in the 11th house squaring natal Jupiter in the 2nd house in Cancer. Uranus in the 11th house can indicate uprisings and discontent by the people in connection with the financial and employment situation. Also, this square with Jupiter can indicate great loss of finances, or overspending that has to cease abruptly. The second square is the progressed Moon in Libra in the 5th house square natal Sun in Cancer in the 2nd house. Again, this is another indication that the economics of the country will come under even more strain. Finally, there is a square between progressed Sun in Pisces in the 10th house with natal Uranus in the 1st house in Gemini. This could indicate a strong pull between wanting to create a brand new paradigm and keeping the status quo within corporations and big business. The fact that progressed Sun is in Pisces could mean that the leaders have rose tinted glasses on and do not wish to see the situation clearly at all. The lead-up to October 2012 will be one of great upheaval and change.

The consistent aspect throughout this period up until 2014 is the opposition of Pluto in Capricorn to natal Sun, Jupiter and Venus in Cancer. It is like a relentless power struggle between keeping the banking system afloat in any way possible, to the ultimate detriment of the US dollar. No matter what the authorities try to do, anything that is unfair to the people in general will be destroyed (Saturn in Libra transiting 5th house). These are testing times for the US, but with the Uranus right on the Ascendant, it does have the ability to re-create itself time and again, and once it comes through this huge crisis, it will be renewed, reinvigorated and will play a leadership role in the new world currency.

Let’s move onto the situation in the UK. Natally, Uranus is at 28 degrees Sagittarius and Pluto made an exact conjunction with natal Uranus in September and October of 2008. This is the precise time in which the banking system in the UK came very close to collapsing. The government suddenly had to come up with huge bailout funds for failing financial institutions. Pluto in Capricorn is hovering between natal Uranus in Sagittarius and natal Sun in Capricorn for the next 5-6 years. This could indicate sudden shocks and also a complete transformation of the way in which the UK governs itself. Capricorn ruling structures, buildings, big business and government, will bring out into the open anything that is unethical and immoral and will insist on a new structure that has integrity and is for the good of all. Huge changes ahead for the UK. It’s not going to be easy, it will come through this a completely changed country.

In October 2009, transiting Saturn goes into Libra in the 6th house of work and employment. It is square to natal Uranus in the 9th house in Sagittarius. This could mean sudden and great loss of jobs. By November the progressed Moon in Virgo in the 6th house is square Uranus in the 9th house possibly signifying emotional pain with the loss of jobs and financial security. People will have to come up with new and creative ideas to survive the crisis. (Uranus). By April 2010, transiting Pluto in Capricorn is within a few degrees of the Midheaven indicating a possible change of government or leadership.

In the middle of 2016, natal Sun and Midheaven in Capricorn are in opposition to progressed Venus in Cancer crossing the IC. This will be the time that the Pound comes under extensive pressure. There will be significant changes in the way that people earn money, especially from home, fighting against the big corporations and business that will want the workers to go out and leave the home and family. There will be a pull between home and family and having to earn money and being out in the world. This could also be connected to the fact that the people will want sustainability, nurturing and nourishment (progressed Venus in Cancer on the IC, just going into the 4th house of home and family). Food supplies could be threatened and the people will want to protect what they have. There could be a move back to the land and earning income from the land. (progressed Venus in Cancer, 4th house).

Saturn in Sagittarius will be transiting the 8th house of investments, banking, insurance and financial institutions during 2016, before going into Capricorn and becoming conjunct with natal Sun in Capricorn in December 2018. This will be a period of upheaval, some hardships financially and also the opportunity to create new structures in the financial industry as a whole. The whole area will be pared down to its barest necessities. There will not be the expansionist actions taken in previous times. There could also be a move towards more right-wing politics and towards even more Big Brother systems in government. The next decade is certainly going to be transformative for the UK and I am optimistic that they will come through it better than ever. The spirit of the people is very strong and vibrant and they will knuckle under and do what it takes to survive.

Finally, let’s take a look at Japan. Right now, the aspects for Japan are quite benign in nature. Although they are feeling the credit crunch just like the rest of the world, their currency is strong relative to the US dollar and the Euro at the moment and they have already experienced deflation and a difficult economy for many years. However, by August 2009, transiting Neptune is conjunct natal Mercury in Aquarius in the 10th house and then Sun in Aquarius in the 10th house. Neptune is hovering over Sun and Mercury throughout the rest of 2009 and 2010 so you can expect some dissolving of existing structures in Japan. There will be some corruption in governmental and big business areas and also some confusion over the general direction of the country. Also, there is the possibility of a charismatic leader coming to the fore who can take Japan into the next stages of its growth. The fact that Jupiter is in Aquarius for the next year until January 2010, means that it is divinely protected for this period and will not undergo such a serious depression as the rest of the world.

Progressed Venus is in Taurus in the 12th house, so there is much going on behind the scenes with respect to finances, money and planning for the future. I would not be at all surprised if the Japanese government is in secret discussions with financial institutions and trying to work out ways to secure the future of their economy. Also, this will affect the health care too as the 12th house rules hospitals, laboratories and the exploration of new drugs. A cure for a serious illness could come out of Japan in the next few years that will make them a huge amount of money.

Around April of 2012 will be a serious time for Japan. Pluto will be transiting the 8th house of banking, insurance, investments and finance, so you can expect great changes to take place. Also, some past secrets will be revealed and corruption scandals will come out into the open. The fact that Pluto is squaring natal Venus in Aries in the 11th house indicates that this is the time that pressure will be put upon their currency. Transiting Uranus in Aries will also be conjunct natal Jupiter in Aries in the 11th house indicating shocks and changes to the Japanese Yen. It looks like there will be a period of calm before the storm. Between 2009 and 2011, Japan will muddle through and will not have too many serious challenges. However, by 2012, there will be a crisis period which will force Japan to move in a totally new direction both politically and economically.

In conclusion, all three countries are in for extreme turbulence and change over the next several years. The credit crisis is far from over. Anyone who claims that it will be over by next year is dreaming. We are just at the very beginning of it now in January 2009. Given that the USD is the reserve currency of the world, and the difficult aspects between the 2nd and 8th houses for the next 5 years, indicates that there will be huge transformational changes ahead for the US and the rest of the world. The UK’s banking system will be reformed and over the next 5-10 years, government structures will be vastly different. There is the risk of a turn to severe right wing politics to try to keep the status quo. Already many UK banks are nationalised, there is more serious talk of joining the Euro (nearly at parity with the UK Pound even now) and as the unemployment figures rise there could be severe civil unrest. Japan’s situation will not reach a peak for another 3-4 years, at which point it too will face a crisis of government and economy.

Given these progressions and transits, I reiterate that I see a new world currency emerging from these troubled times. The fact that we are now in the Age of Aquarius, money needs to become our servant and not our master. It is the humanitarian age where the gap between the haves and the have-nots diminishes and everyone gets a fair chance in the world. Out of this pain, shock and crisis, I see great opportunities for creating a new world that is less self-centred and focused primarily on the rich people, but a world which is more generous, caring and sustainable for the long-term good of our planet. Aquarius rules the air waves, and there will be creative new ideas that will catapult us forward into a brighter, better and more balanced world.

Remember, when new currency becomes a reality, you first heard about it here!!
