Holiday Week in Astrology

Hello everyone
I thought you might like to know the astrological aspects for the Holiday Week.
On December 24th, Mercury in Capricorn is sextile Uranus in Pisces, which is great news for you last minute shoppers. It means that in the eleventh hour an inspiration will come to you for that present that has been eluding you. It's a time for coming up with original ideas and tuning into your higher mind.

On December 25th - Happy Xmas!
Mercury in Capricorn is trine to Saturn in Virgo and sextile to Uranus in Pisces. This ia a great time to relax a little, take it easy, but be prepared for something a bit different to happen as well!
Saturn in Virgo is opposing Uranus in Pisces - so give some thought to integrating hte old and the new.

On December 26th, Mercury in Capricorn is trine Saturn in Virgo. It's time to think seriously about your goals, especially things that will need long-term mental focus.
Venus is quincunx Saturn - which can indicate that you may need to make and adjustment or compromise in your relationships. Maybe you didnt get the present you expected or maybe you are ending up doing all the work around the house...whatever it is, be prepared to make allowances. Also, the fact that Venus is in Aquarius, means that there will be a desire to give money and resources to charity and to the less-fortunate, but also with Saturn in Virgo, there will be the caution with spending and wanting to be more frugal.

On December 27th, Mars goes into Capricorn until February 4th. Remember that Mars is exalted in Capricorn, so it means that it is great to think about your New Years Resolutions. There will be FIVE planets in Capricorn - which is a Grand Stellium - Mars, Sun, Mercury, Jupiter and Pluto - and also fleetingly the Moon! With all that practical Capricorn energy, do take a look at what you want to achieve, and set yourself targets and actions to take you to your destination.

The New Moon enters Capricorn at 7.22am in US Eastern time, at 12.22pm in London and on December 28th at 1.22am in New Zealand.

This is a good time for new beginnings in work and career. It's powerful because there are so many Capricornian planets - but be ready for things that do not work for you to be discarded. Sometimes this can be painful, but remember that it usually turns out for the best - especially if you are holding onto something that is no longer working for you.

On December 28th, Mars is conjunct Pluto in Capricorn - this is very good for stamina and endurance.
Also on the 28th, Venus in Aquarius is conjunct Neptune in Aquarius - this is wonderful for creative expression. Neptune is the higher octave of love and with it being in Aquarius with Venus, there is a desire for charity work and helping others.

On December 31st, Mercury in Capricorn is conjunct Jupiter in Capricorn. This is good for positive thinking, setting goals. It's also very useful for anything connected with words, books, publishing and getting yourself out into the public eye.

Finally, Saturn goes retrograde until May 16th 2009 - so this will give you the opportunity to examine all the structures and habit patterns in your life and discard those that no longer serve you.

That's all for now.

Wishing you all a very happy, healthy and peaceful New Year.

Astrological Predictions 2009-2010

Jupiter goes into Aquarius and conjuncts Neptune.
Saturn Uranus and Pluto are all in a challenging relationship with each other.
How will these astrological configurations affect world events from 2009-2010?

Jupiter, the planet of good fortune, abundance, growth and prosperity moves from the earth sign of Capricorn into the air sign of Aquarius on January 5th 2009 until January 17th 2010. Not only that, Jupiter conjuncts with Neptune three times in 2009: May 27th, July 10th and December 21st. During the forthcoming two year time band of hard aspects from Saturn, lies this seven month window when there is a great hope that something magical is transpiring.

Neptune is the principle of romantic thinking, ideals and altruism. Aquarius represents the principles of equality to the masses and the possibility of a bright new world and future. There is certainly justified concern about the economy and the financial markets as we head into 2009. There is the feeling that things are bad and will only get worse. But with Jupiter going into Aquarius and forming three conjunctions with Neptune, there is also immense hope that there will be innovative solutions found to all the problems in our system. The masses want to believe. Jupiter in Aquarius is inspirational and uplifting. It is a time for tapping into the finest aspects of human potential.

Barack Obama, has Aquarius Rising and thus identifies with many of the characteristics of Aquarius. He inherits the White House under difficult circumstances, but he represents change which is ruled by Aquarius. He connects with the hopes and dreams of the people which are all about Jupiter in Aquarius. For his first year in office, the majority of Americans and others will allow him this honeymoon period. Many will believe that he can change things for the better and for the good of all. He will appear to be a consensus builder, a master communicator, someone who is able to unite and bring opposite sides together. It is during this period, through to December 2009, the he will need to set into motion the programs and policies that will work, for this is the time he will have the most support from the greatest amount of people.

He will need to deliver on the promises he made during his election campaign: “Change you can believe in” was his slogan and he will have to back this up with tangible results for the people. His book, “the Audacity of Hope” is a keyword for Jupiter, Neptune and Aquarius right out of the classical astrology textbooks. There is a new hope and inspiration for the world and whilst there are certainly some very difficult aspects with Saturn opposing Uranus and making challenging aspects to Pluto in the upcoming year, the Neptune Jupiter conjunction in Aquarius brings hope, compassion and the possibility of global unity.

Jupiter and Neptune can work well together and could bring many new inventions to the market available for public consumption. Aquarius always means greater efficiency and speed and also free information and use – this is certainly true for the internet and other freely available information. Aquarian thinking is always outside the box, so be prepared for some wonderful new innovations that will enhance all our lives in the next year or so.

There are other ways in which Jupiter and Neptune can manifest and not all are positive, especially within the context of the hard aspects to Saturn, Uranus and Pluto. For example, Jupiter rules exaggeration, or excess. Anything it aspects can be accompanied by more than the usual or required amount of that principle. In addition to dreams and wishes, Neptune also rules water, liquids and fluids. It is not unusual to see great floods or oil spills that threaten lives, food supplies or nature, especially with Uranus and Saturn involved. Saturn represents loss, Uranus rules sudden, shocking events, and Pluto can represent the threat of destruction or death. Natural disasters may be in great abundance during this year and even into 2010. But Neptune also rules tears and sadness. Symbolically, Jupiter with Neptune can correspond to a time of great sadness and many tears. With Pluto in Capricorn, being squared by Saturn, the potential loss of a popular leader, or for large numbers of people being claimed by floods, earthquakes, tsunamis and hurricanes is within the realm of possibilities during the configuration of planets during 2009-2010.

2009 will be a year of extremes. On the one hand, Saturn in challenging aspect to Uranus and Pluto indicates threats to stability that confront the world. This affects the global economy, financial markets, security and terrorist attacks. There are dangers of falling into a deep depression. The danger of an increase in terrorist attacks is a possibility with Saturn moving into its waning square to Pluto. There is a danger of increase in political assassinations worldwide with Pluto in Capricorn.

Yet there is hope and belief in a better future. There is the belief that through positive thinking our world leaders can come together to solve the serious problems and instill faith in a bright future. With Aquarius featuring so prominently in the line-up, people will want to take responsibility for their own future. There will be the growth of community and the masses caring and becoming responsible for their destiny.

The polarity will swing from the emotions of fear to hope. They will be with us throughout 2009-2010. There will be difficult times, but as long as there is hope, we can move forward. Uranus, Neptune and Pluto are all in their waxing phase (conjunction to opposition), to one another for many more decades and these are longer-term trends and cycles than those involving just Saturn alone. They offer great hope for the world to solve the issues we face.

Astrological Predictions for 2009-2010

Pluto moved into Capricorn on November 26-27th and will be there until 2023. What does this mean?
You can already see the impact this is having on world events, even though it has only just changed signs:
There are terrorist attacks on Mumbai - particularly the business district, where there are the most foreigners and the hub of financial matters in India.
Demonstrations are happening throughout Thailand
There has been a serious air crash off the southern coast of France
More flooding and earthquakes

This is what happens when Pluto moves out of Sagittarius and into Capricorn. It's time to get serious. Pluto, ruled by Scorpio, will get to the bottom of situations. It will leave no stone unturned. The fact that it is in Capricorn, will mean that anything that lacks integrity will be unearthed. Remember that Saturn is the natural ruler of Capricorn, so this adds to the gravity of Pluto at this time. This affects us all - not only on a global scale where structures that are no longer serving us will be torn down and built anew - but also on a personal scale where we are asked to examine our lives and see where we have created structures that no longer serve us.
Look at your own life and see where you are perhaps sitting in your "comfort zone." What needs to change? Is it a relationship, is it your financial situation, is it your interactions with your family, it is your life purpose? What is old and must go?

Astrology touches us on all levels: global, political, spiritual, emotional, psychological and physical. All areas of your life should be examined carefully. Are you living in the best place for your health and well-being? Are you taking care of your health? What actions do you need to take?

Pluto in Capricorn is going to bring about huge changes and the world will not look the same once it has completed its orbit in this sign.

A particular climax is building up. It is called the "Cardinal Climax." This is going to occur specifically in August 2010, but we are now in the build-up towards this climax and now is the time to start to take actions and not leave it until it might be too late.

In August 2010, Saturn in Libra will be in opposition to Uranus in Aries whilst Pluto in Capricorn will make a square aspect to both Saturn and Uranus. This is a culmination of forces - all in cardinal signs - which signify action and change. This configuration is likely to have a huge impact on those people with a lot of planets in cardinal signs in their charts and particularly to those with the Sun in either Aries, Cancer, Libra or Capricorn. These are the "hot spots."

There is so much to say about all that is happening astrologically over the next few years. Indeed, the Mayan calendar ends on December 21st 2012 and this is a fascinating piece of information. Events are speeding up and it is important to take a long and honest look at all areas of your life right now.

I have much more to share with you about the astrology of 2009 -2010 and will write about it in future blogs.

In the meantime, do remember that this is a very exciting time to be alive and start thinking about your destiny and what you are here to do and contribute.

The pull between Saturn and Uranus

Saturn and Uranus have completely different vibrations. Saturn is all about constriction, convention and maintaining existing structures, while Uranus is all about creating new forms, reaching out to humanity as a whole. Uranus stands for radical and sudden change.

Remember, I said in my last blog, that Uranus usually wins out as it did with the election of Obama. In New Zealand, Uranus won again with the election of a different government. However, it is important to watch out for the forces of Saturn that will constantly try to push against the new. For example, in California, there is controversy again about the status of gay marriages. There are Saturnian forces who want to ban gay marriage. Whenever there is an opposition, both of these energies will be evident in the world. Uranus demands change and Saturn resists it. Uranus fights for equality and freedom and believes that Saturn has lost touch with the basic ideals of human rights, freedoms and fairness.

Uranus wants to throw out the “old,” and usher in a brave new world that is more progressive and more in tune with the needs of the “common man.” This is a very exciting time to be alive, but possibly an unstable and dangerous one as well. Saturn rules governments and the boundaries of its nations. Uranus rules new leadership, revolts and uprisings. There could be the sudden overthrow of many leaders of nations whose people feel that their leaders have lost their ability to understand their needs. Especially vulnerable will be nations that are led by military leaders.

In your own life, look at areas where you are wanting freedom and change - this is Uranus at work, and then examine where you are resisting change and see whether you are able to let go and try something new. If you are familiar with your astrology chart, check out which houses this opposition is hitting - for example, if it is on the 2nd - 7th house axis, you may find that your finances are severly challenged at this time. If Saturn is transiting your eighth house, then you may find yourself responsible for someone else's affairs. If it is transiting your second house, you may feel restricted in your ability to produce an income.

It's a time to closely examine your life and look at areas where you seem to be in your comfort zone. Check out what is past its "sell by" date. For example, maybe you are in a relationship that needs to end, or at least needs redefining. Maybe you are in a deadend job that you need to quit. Be prepared to make changes, otherwise Uranus could come along and take you by surprise.

Uranus does provide lots of excitement, so be ready for changes on a global and personal scale.

Uranus will win in the fight with Saturn

Over the next couple of years, I shall be discussing the effects of Saturn in Virgo currently opposing Uranus in Pisces. This is going to be a turbulent time in many ways, but there will be great new breakthroughs. Uranus is always about something entirely new and unexpected, usually for the better of mankind.

When I spoke about the US elections and the fact that I saw John McCain to be representing Saturn in Virgo (he is a Virgo Sun too!) and Barack Obama to represent Uranus in Pisces. Barack Obama has an Aquarian Ascendant which will help him to tune into the Aquarian energies of Uranus. He is not focused on his own career, he does not have any planets in the tenth house, which would indicate an ambitious streak. Instead, most of his planets are in the sixth and seventh houses which are all about service and contribution to others, and developing strong bonds between people and nations. This is his main focus. He also wants change and innovation for the better for everyone. It is a huge accomplishment that he is going to live in the White House next January, when that very building was built by black slaves. It is truly a Uranian influence that has brought about such hope and optimism for the future.

What else is happening with this powerful transit? I am sure you are all aware that we have an extreme financial crisis on our hands globally. This is not something that is going to go away, and it is not something that will change quickly, if politicians and governments continue to do the same old things (Saturn) to try to remedy the situation.Instead, once again, I think that Uranus will have to win out to resolve the crisis we find ourselves in. Here is a possible outcome from the G20 meeting this very weekend.

If you think that these meetings in Washington are only about designing short-term solutions to the financial system, think again. It's patently clear that the vast injections of cash into the banking systems have been ineffective to date and that the crisis is growing ever more serious day by day. I think that the G20 countries are seriously looking at a whole new way of solving this crisis (Uranus). Watch out for something entirely unexpected to the person in the street who knows little about financial affairs. I think that there is a strong possibility that there will be a whole new financial order that would help to wipe clean the world's debt ledgers.

Radical stuff! Yes, it has to be. There is a strong possibility that the world's leading currencies will be devalued in a simultaneous and universal currency devalution. There are many possibilities as to how this will work out in practice, but my thought is that there could be three new currencies, each with equal reserve status. They would essentially be a new dollar, a new euro and a new pan-Asian currency. The new fiat monetary units would be worth less than the old ones. For example, it could take 10 new units of money to buy one old dollar or euro. New names may be given to the new currencies to help to rid the world of the connotations of currencies that failed.

Naturally, this will be a bit more complicated than the outline I have given above, but there will be a whole new financial architecture developed. But the point is, that Uranus is forcing in changes that are going to happen very quickly. It's exciting. Watch this space for more as the story unfolds.....

Saturn, Uranus and Pluto - it's all happening now!

There are two major events happening astrologically in 2008 and both of them occur in the month of November. One is the start of a series of exact oppositions of Saturn in Virgo with Uranus in Pisces. This was exact on the day of the US elections, where McCain represented Saturn and the old, conservative way of doing things that was no longer working, while Obama represented Uranus which is change, the new and optimism for the future. As I mentioned in my blog, Uranus usually wins out in these situations and again this proved to be so.

The final exact opposition of Saturn and Uranus occurs on 26th July 2010 which will characterise a period of revolutionary transformation with outmoded or corrupted structures, such as the derivatives in the global financial system, being replaced by new, more transparent and honest paradigms.

How will this affect you?
On a more personal level, it’s an important time to examine all the structures in your life that have outlived their usefulness. It’s time to look at what might be past its “sell by” date in your life. Perhaps something that has served you very well until now - a relationship, a way of thinking, a home, a job - but maybe is no longer what you are wanting on a deeper level. It just doesn’t seem to be working, no matter how many different ways you look at it. This means it is time to release it and leave space for something new and different to come into your life. Invariably, there is a feeling of loss, as though a door has been firmly shut in your life. However, this is the only way to allow something new and fresh to come in. Remember, that Saturn will pull down old structures that no longer work anyway, so you might as well be ahead of the game and examine your life in detail now and see what needs to be changed, before Saturn comes along and does it for you. Then it is usually a more painful experience. It’s important to tune into your intuitive flashes which are represented by Uranus and follow them wherever you can. You will be guided, but Uranus is all about letting go and allowing the universe to show you what your next steps are.

This will be especially true for you if the Saturn-Uranus opposition is making a conjunction, opposition or square to sensitive points in your natal chart. For example, Obama had this powerful opposition where Saturn was affecting his eighth house - this very often means the death of a loved one, and his grandmother passed away the day before the election.

You might want to watch out for the other dates on which this powerful combination of planets makes this exact opposition in the heavens:
5th May 2009, 15th September 2009, 26th April 2010 and 26th July 2010.

However, we will all be feeling these energies over the next couple of years in one way or another and remember that Uranus usually wins over the Saturn influence, so be ready for the new, the exciting and the humanitarian effects of Uranus which wants the new paradigm to be about reaching out to others, helping and wanting the best for us all. These will be challenging times, but they will benefit the greater good of mankind.

The other great event of 2008 astrologically, is the movement of Pluto out of Sagittarius and into Capricorn on 26th November 2008. It will be in Capricorn for the next sixteen years. So for you Capricorns out there, your birthdays are coming up over the Christmas period and into the New Year, the next sixteen years will be very significant for you. When Pluto transits your sign, you can be sure that you will undergo utter transformation of who you think you are right now, you will want to be going to the depths of your soul. It is a great time for any kind of research and projects that are intricate and require great focus. Pluto by its very nature unearths everything in your life that needs close examination. Not a part of you will be left untouched by this transit: your physical, emotional, mental and spiritual self will all be affected. If you have a special gift, Pluto could increase your capacity with your talent, it will force you to explore the hidden depths of yourself in new and interesting ways.

It will be a time of great change in your life, when you will strive as never before to accomplish your ambitions. You will work harder than ever and not allow obstacles to prevent you from achieving your objectives. If you handle the energies of this transit skillfully, you should be able to go far with it. However, you should also be aware of certain challenges. Pluto is the planet of death and regeneration, which means the elimination of whatever is old and outworn and the birth of a new, higher order. First you must observe two limitations. Pluto gives you tremendous drive and energy, but only for the elimination of that which is truly old and outworn, not for getting rid of things that you might not want, but may still be of value. Secondly, like all the planets beyond Saturn, Pluto is a transcendental planet. Therefore its energies are meant to be used for the betterment of everyone around you, not just yourself. You are the steward of this energy, not the owner.

The best ways to ensure that you are handling this energy in a positive way is to concentrate it on your own life. It is best not to try to dominate others, even “for their own good.” Use the energy to transform your own life into a finer expression of yourself. Make every effort to expand your awareness of who and what you are and make that knowledge work in your life at a practical level.

The final point to remember is that you must do something now. You cannot simply sit back and let this transit go by without making some changes. If you do not make them consciously, circumstances will take over for you, probably with unpleasant results. You may have to face some aspects of yourself that you do not like, but that is part of the process, and you will find that those aspects are not really so bad. The sweeping changes that take place may be challenging, but that is because any kind of death is unpleasant. However, it makes way for the birth of something new, powerful and exciting. I’m sure many of you hard-working Capricorns have already got to work on this transit! Enjoy!

A New World Order - Planets point to Total Transformation

A new world order is near. Financial markets are collapsing, banks are failing, governments are intervening with little or no effect.
Stock markets round the world are generally 25% lower than they were just a month ago. People are losing their jobs, their homes and some are realising that soon there may be disruption to their travel, their food supply and their electricity. THIS IS SERIOUS!!!

Some of you out there may be very aware of the situation, others may be wondering what the hell is going on and how might it affect you personally.

Let me explain it to you in astrological terms:
Saturn in Virgo is currently in opposition to Uranus in Pisces and on November 4th, the day of the US election, this will form an exact degree of opposition.
John McCain and Sarah Palin represent the Saturn in Virgo which stands for the status quo, conservatism and wanting things to go on as they are whereas Barack Obama and Joe Biden stand for the new world order, change and a "brighter" future, which relates to the Uranus in Pisces. They are in direct opposition with one another and there is a strong fight within the American people about which way is best for the future of their country.
This opposition of these two powerful planets happens to the exact degree five times over the next few years.

What else is happening?
The other most significant change is that Pluto is moving out of Sagittarius and into Capricorn on November 26th 2008. This means a move away from excesses, from false optimism, from pretending or hoping that the problems can be easily resolved (Sagittarius) and into Capricorn which is all about injecting reality into the situation and coming up with a workable plan for the future. Capricorn usually indicates a period of contraction, of making best use of resources and of a new set of rules and regulations to live by.
Pluto is in Capricorn for the next 16 years, so this is going to be a long period of building new structures that have integrity and that are beneficial for everyone, not just the elite few. There could be some very hard times ahead, indicated by the sign of Capricorn, as the goat does not mind working hard toward a goal that is both realistic and achievable.
It is too late to correct what has already been unleashed in the world, but we can now start to create structures that will stop this from happening again and that will be strong and solid for us upon which we can build our future world.
Pluto is about world changes. This is not a simple and short-lived aspect, this is life-changing.

This is telling you clearly NOT to live beyond your means, NOT to take on too much debt, preferably not to borrow at all.
This is telling you to make best use of resources, to learn how to make things, to recycle, to grow your own food if you can, to buy food that is grown locally, to use a bicycle instead of your car for a shorter journey, to buy a moped or scooter to use less gas...these are all ways that you can work harmoniously with the energy of Pluto in Capricorn.
If you work against this vibration by spending too much, by being reckless with your resources, by not protecting what you do have, by not planning for the future, then Pluto in Capricorn, sooner or later, will pull you up short and will take everything away from you. Remember that Pluto in Capricorn is like having the veil of Saturn with it as Saturn rules Capricorn. This is a time of learning lessons.
If we learn the lessons, then we can and will thrive in the years to come as we will have a more honest society that we can be proud of.

Pluto in Capricorn - what does it mean?

Pluto moves into Capricorn on November 26th 2008 and stays there until 2024. What effect might this have on you and on the world?
Pluto has been in Sagittarius for the last 14 years and both Pluto and Sagittarius have a tendency to go to extremes. We have seen that over these years especially with the housing bubble, the credit bubble, the burgeoning stock market and the utter greed and fantasy of the bankers thinking that it could all go on forever without consequences.
Pluto is moving out of the fire sign of Sagittarius which tends to overdo it and live in the clouds, into the earth sign of Capricorn which is all about reality, practicality and integrity.

Pluto is the planet that rules death, power, debt and taxes, while Capricorn rules government, authority, boundaries of nations, and is signified by the psychological concepts of ambition, caution, resistance, responsibilities and an urge to make a clear distinction between right and wrong or good and evil. Depending on your degree of preparedness, Pluto can cause considerable damage and destruction, or it can be just a very close call.

Pluto in Capricorn is like Pluto making an aspect to Saturn, the ruler of Capricorn. It’s time for a reality check on all levels.
In the world situation now, Pluto is about taxes and debt in the financial world. Capricorn relates to government and business.
Pluto in Capricorn is certainly shaking everything up, exposing fraudulent deals and the world will never be the same again.

When Pluto goes through Capricorn we can expect the transformation of all things ruled by that sign - such as our religious institutions, halls of government and political structures, the way we inter our dead and take care of our old people, construction techniques and buildings, and how we handle ownership of property.

Once Pluto is firmly entrenched in Capricorn in December, we will begin to really see it at work. Pluto seeks to focus and intensify as well as break down and regenerate. The structures of our world keep societies in order and functioning: religious institutions, governments, buildings - all of these are ruled by Capricorn. But so are bridges and tunnels, and the entire infrastructure upon which we live, particularly in urban areas, are likely to experience a severe breakdown while Pluto travels through Capricorn.

Underground transportation, under the domain of Pluto, could become a battleground as Pluto often brings warfare or death in the areas of the sign through which it passes (such as September 11th during Pluto in Sagittarius, where air travel became a conveyance of death and total world transformation).

Pluto's reach will extend beyond governments as Capricorn also rules the elderly and end of life issues. Pluto in Capricorn could transform the way we view the entire process of death and dying, including the disposal of the body after death.

There is always another side to Pluto cycles, and in Capricorn we are likely to see an increase in stability and a more practical approach to economics and business than we saw under the Sagittarian influence. The inflated (Sagittarian) bonuses for CEOs that we have seen in recent years are likely a sign of the past as businesses and corporations become more concerned with down-to-earth reality than with Sagittarian appearance and image.

Capricorn is essentially practical and prizes achievement above all else, which means achievement of real goals and objectives. Although Pluto in Capricorn will bring out secrets (Pluto) of governments and other political entities (Capricorn), there will be an increased focus on proficiency, skill, and a successful outcome rather than spin and propaganda of the Sagittarian era.
At the end of all this upheaval we should have a better and more efficient system and one which is beneficial to all.

However in the meantime, there are likely to be huge challenges and here are a few of my tips of ways to protect yourself for the current financial and economic crisis we are currently facing:
- have at least three months cash on hand NOT in a bank
- spread what money you do have among several banks. Do not put it all in one financial institution
- pay off your credit cards
- cut down the number of credit cards you have
- reduce your debt
- renegotiate the rate of your mortgage with your bank. You will be surprised at the deals you can agree upon in these stressed times.
- create a store of dried goods, tinned goods and essential toiletries and paper goods
- have alternative means of transportation e.g. bikes, moped, scooter
- have an emergency survival kit and include a store of any important medicines you need
- if you do not have any debt and have paid off your credit cards, consider buying some one ounce gold and silver coins. During periods of emergency, gold acts as insurance against system collapse and panic
- if you are a risk-taker and have some extra monies and wish to diversify, get out of the weak and falling currencies like the UK Pound, US dollar, NZ dollar and buy the stronger currencies like Yen, Canadian Dollar and Swiss Franc.

If any of this makes sense to you, please take action and spread the word around. Everyone needs to hear this and to take steps to protect themselves and their loved ones.

If you would like some personalised help with your situation, I am available for financial and business consultations.

Who will win the US Presidential Election?

Who will win the US Presidential Election?

Having examined Barack Obama’s and John McCain’s astrological charts together with their progressions and transits, I conclude that although it will be a close-run match, that Barack Obama will be the next President of the United States of America.

How did I reach this conclusion?

Here are my thoughts:

Barack Obama
With Pluto transiting the 11th house trine progressed Venus conjunct North Node, this gives him great power to influence the mass consciousness of the people. With Venus trine the transit of Pluto, this softens his approach and he can reach people he would not have otherwise attracted.

There are no challenging aspects to any of the transiting planets in his chart at the moment – this indicates that he will be able to keep his head, stay calm and move through all the turmoil and negativity around him.

Jupiter transiting the 11th house again reiterates the good fortune that the people feel he will bring to them. By voting for him, they see change, new structures, growth and protection for all. There is an all-encompassing feeling of hopes and wishes coming true. Neptune is not involved in any of these particular aspects and therefore it looks like he will not be deceived and although he has a lot of hard work ahead of him, he can convince the masses to vote for him. He comes across as honest and trustworthy and he will fight for the good of all.

Neptune transiting the 1st house gives the possibility of self-deception or being duped by others. Also, he may have feelings of confusion and be uncertain of what to do at times. However, this aspect can also add to his personal charisma and draw people magnetically towards him. So this can act in a positive way as well.

Uranus is also transiting his first house which can indicate sudden and shocking changes. Maybe he has had to change himself, his appearance and his views in order to rise to this position, also he has had to come up with radical and new views in order to be the Democratic nominee. The fact that he is the candidate of “change and hope” attests to this position of Uranus together with Jupiter transiting the 11th house.

Saturn is transiting the 7th house which shows that he can bring stability and fairness to the USA. It is almost conjunct natal Mars indicating that his energy and passion can be put to practical use.

Interesting too, that Obama is Leo Sun with Biden a Scorpio Sun. Reminiscent of the Clintons – Bill a Leo Sun and Hillary Scorpio Sun.

John McCain

On the positive side, progressed Sun conjunct Mercury in Scorpio in the 1st house shows that he feels great personal power and strength inside himself. He sees himself as invincible and unbeatable. However, that is how he seems himself. More importantly on the negative side, transiting Uranus is conjunct natal Saturn in the 6th house. This could mean that he will have to change radically or there will be danger to his physical health. The fact that Uranus is involved indicates that it could be a sudden health scare. He really needs to be taking care of himself at this time and overdoing it will certainly take its toll on his health. He has only one planet in water which means that he does not tend to be in touch with his emotions and therefore may ignore the warnings that his body is probably already alerting him about.

Transiting Saturn in Virgo is entering his 11th house. This means he has an uphill climb with the masses and is seen as the voice of conservatism and holding back. Saturn’s involvement shows that the masses do not think that he is the voice of change, rather the voice of status quo. He is seen as someone who will want more involvement in wars, the war on terror, alienation of the USA with racist tendencies, the splitting up of the country with right wing views and actions. He will be seen as someone who does not want change and wants to keep things as they are.

Transiting Saturn is also conjunct natal Neptune in the 11th house which could mean that he is being fooled by the friends and business associates around him as well as the population at large. This also shows that his dreams will be thwarted unless he is able to show deep compassion and love for all his fellow men. This is a highly unlikely scenario but it would be the way for him to ward off the unsettling combination of Saturn conjunct Neptune.

Based on the above summaries, it looks most likely that Obama will win the election. However, I decided to add the vice presidential nominees into the mix to see if there were any further indications for a clear winner.

Joe Biden

He is certainly suited to being a behind-the-scenes man with five planets in Scorpio all in the 12th house.

Transiting Pluto in the first house conjunct progressed Mars indicates lots of personal power and drive. At last there is a feeling of all his hard work coming to fruition. As Pluto will enter Capricorn fully on 26th November, he will be able to put his ideas into action and create solid practical structures. There is a very strong and solid feeling to him.

Progressed Sun in Aquarius in the 2nd house is trine natal Saturn in the 7th house in Gemini. The 7th house Saturn in Gemini could mean helping a one-to-one partner – note that Obama’s Moon is in Gemini – and using his progressed Sun in Aquarius (Obama’s Ascendant) in the 2nd house to bring a shine and freshness to new values that are important to the future dreams of America.

Transiting Uranus in Pisces is opposing the MC and conjunct progressed Moon in Virgo. This could mean that there will be changes and shocks in his family environment. It can indicate a death or a sudden move of home. It will be a very emotional time for him with his energies pulling in the direction of work and power and yet also strong energies and responsibilities in the home area.

Transiting Saturn in Virgo is in the late stages of the 9th house and will soon transit his 10th house which could put him in a serious position of responsibility in the public eye. The fact that it is in Virgo, shows that he will have a supporting role, dealing with the details and the work done behind the scenes.

Transiting Neptune in Pisces square natal Mercury in Scorpio means that he has to be very careful who he speaks to and what his opinions are seen to be. There may be some confusion about his intent and he would do well to say as little as possible at this time lest it is construed against him.

However, all in all, his compatibility with Obama and the fact that Saturn will enter his 10th house of career and achievement, indicates that he is likely to be in power in the near future.

Sarah Palin

She is all fire and air and has to watch out that she doesn’t burn out. On the positive side, transiting Jupiter and Pluto in the 5th house of creativity make her the potential star of the show. She certainly feels like she has a right to be the star with her Leo ascendant.

On the negative side, transiting Neptune retrograding her Sun and Mars means that she is fooling herself, being taken in by others and that inside she is not really very confident. In fact, she talks a good talk – her five planets in Aquarius give her great talking abilities and the fact that three of them fall into the seventh house gives her the ability to make people feel as though she is talking to them personally. However, this retrograde Neptune is highly deceptive and she seriously thinks that she is a contender to the future presidency of the US – not just the vice-presidency, but the possibility that she could be the President.

Saturn transiting the second house of values means that she will have to look long and hard at her values and eliminate those that no longer work.

Uranus transiting the 8th house can mean that she has the ability to shock people, especially with respect to the financial situation and her ideas about how it should be resolved. It can mean the death of someone close to her, but as there are no aspects to other planets in this case, it is not likely.

Natal Sun in Aquarius in the 7th house is square progressed Venus in Aries in the 10th house. This indicates that she would dearly love to be in power and be the leader, but it will be very hard for her and there will be mistrust from the populace. This is due to the fact that her Sun has the retrograding Neptune hovering over it as mentioned earlier which does not bode well for election into power, especially if she is unable to show deep compassion for all her fellow men.

Given that McCain and Palin have just three planets in water signs between them, I wouldn’t hold out much hope for compassion and a deep understanding of peoples’ needs.

The Financial Crisis - more thoughts

Financial Crisis – thoughts on Oct 8th 2008

It’s worldwide. No matter where you live, you will be affected.

Ireland and Greece move in early and guarantee all bank deposits

Germany’s govt has to rescue its fourth largest bank.

Belgium and Iceland govts are bailing out their major banks.

Australia drops interest rates by 1% and stuns the market.

What next???

Maybe you are sitting calmly thinking that this crisis will not affect you?

I hope not.

This is a worldwide situation and in one way or another, nearly everyone will be affected:
Job losses, cutbacks, redundancies,
Pension plans dropping in value
Property prices plummeting
If you have investment property you may find you cannot let it easily if at all
Uncertainty in the banks – maybe a freeze on your hard-earned monies
Inflation – meaning that the value of your money is decreasing – NZ already at 5% at the moment and going up.

Why should we all suffer due to the greed and irresponsible lending of the banks worldwide?? It seems grossly unfair, but that is the situation we find ourselves in. Is it similar to the Great Depression of the 1930’s? In some ways yes and not in others. Well, here the banks are more centralised and can communicate with one another and can pump liquidity into the system. However, there is great distrust between the banks and in order to keep the system alive, they have to be able to lend to one another, especially in the short term markets.

Governments are buying up tons of bad debts that they cannot hope to ever recover – what is going to happen to all this money?

How much information has yet to come out? Probably a lot more. The European banking system is much more secretive than other parts of the world and so likely to produce some startling news as time goes on.

The US is still trying to be optimistic in the face of an upcoming election – yet once the dust settles and the new president is inaugurated – then the true situation will be revealed. There are still rose-tinted glasses on despite the heavy drops in stock markets worldwide. There is still manipulation of the gold price keeping it as low as possible – however, panic is setting in, and sooner or later, the price of gold will skyrocket.
What on earth can you do?

I do not mean to be a doom-monger – that is not my style – however, I do believe in protecting myself, my loved ones and in alerting the rest of the world to the current unfolding situation and giving ways of insuring yourself against the worst scenario.

Do not take on any debt.
If you already have a mortgage, try to get a better rate as interest rates start to fall. If you are on a fixed rate, make sure you check the date the fixed period ends and be ready to transfer onto a floating rate. This is likely to reduce your monthly payments.
If possible, pay off larger amounts so that you redeem the debt earlier.

Pay off your credit cards. Do not use them if you can possibly help it. If you have several cards, just keep one and get rid of the rest.

Keep 3-6 months cash on hand. Just in case your money is frozen for a period in the bank, at least you will have enough money to live on.

Stock up on dried goods, canned products and toiletries. Prices will continue to rise, and these goods will last – so at least you will have bought them at more reasonable prices.

Buy some gold or silver.
Do not keep it in the bank. All banks are scary at the moment. It is hard to know which one is going to be all right and which one will not be. Also, although governments are guaranteeing the monies (excluding NZ at the moment) – be prepared to have something that will insure your money should all else fail. Gold and silver are your insurance in case of systemic failure. Buy the one ounce coins in the gold.

Sit tight. Do not invest in property at this time.
Wait it out. These are turbulent times ahead – and although there are high-risk takers out there who will know how to invest and ride out the storms, for the average person, this is too risky and will have you up at night worrying about your finances. Do nothing. Wait.

Rent rather than buy.
If you do not own a property at the moment, do not buy. Rent and negotiate on the rental. There is an over-supply of rental properties out there at the moment and you should be able to get a good deal – maybe with some extras thrown in e.g. garden maintenance, cleaning etc.

Investing
If you are a very high risk taker and have spare cash, then you may want to invest in the stock markets as they are plummeting. However, this is not for the faint hearted and should only be considered if you have a large sum of spare cash. This is only an option once you have NO DEBT, own your own property, have at least 6 months cash on hand, have some gold and commodities. Then you might consider this option. It is vital to study the markets and to be on top of your investments on a day to day basis.

Remove the intermediaries
Wherever possible remove intermediaries between you and your money and assets. It’s very hard to know who is sound and who is not, so best for you to take control as much as you can. Then you will have no one to blame.

Pensions
If you are near to your final pension and you can draw the money out at a small discount now, then consider this option very seriously. Stock markets worldwide are in for severe volatility for the foreseeable future. If you are able to get a lump sum out and you are near to retirement, this could be preferable to watching your investments fall and then receiving hardly anything for all your payments.
If you are not near to retirement e.g. 5 years plus away, then hold tight and wait it out.

Foreign currency
If you have spare cash and have already done the above points, then you may want to consider diversifying your risk into different currencies. This is something that you will have to watch on a daily basis, however, and you cannot leave it to your financial consultant or bank. Minute by minute the exchange rates change, and you need to be abreast of the changes.
Also it is important to know what your options are:
If you are exchanging cash, you will be charged a premium at the bank. For example, the general rate for the Yen to the NZD might be 0.63, but the bank will only give you 0.67 for your Yen.
However, if you have a foreign exchange account with your bank, you may find that they will give you a better rate even if you have to pay a 1% handling charge. For example let’s say they will give you 0.65 for your Yen.
So 800,000 Yen at 0.65 is NZD $12307 – plus their 1% commission of 8000 Yen at 0.65 is NZD$123.00 - so your total is NZD$12184.00
However, if you exchange your Yen at the Forex counter at the bank you will get 0.67 which amounts to NZD$11940.00

So, in knowing about this option, and checking it out fully, you would have gained $243.00.

Check out all your options with Forex – it can be a minefield, but it is worth taking the time to do this and you will make money. If you are unsure, you may want to consult an independent financial adviser who specialises in this field.

This is a risky option generally, and I reiterate – ONLY if you have no debt and have some spare cash.

Financial Astrology

Money tends to follow a series of cycles - both up and down. This is true on the macro and micro levels. For example, the world financial markets are currently in recession, however, your personal finances might be going through an upward phase.

The stock market goes up and down, gold and commodities fluctuate wildly at times, and anyone who has followed the markets for any length of time will know about cycles and how they affect the movements of the market.

The knowledgeable investor of today must be aware of the opportunities which exist in the various markets, develop a strategy that suits their risk profile, and then apply that strategy. However, it is important to be willing to be flexible and to adapt to changes in the market and to change your strategy if necessary. In addition to following general economic and political cycles, the investor must also be aware of their own personal astroogical cycles for long term investing. This is helpful in order to minise losses while taking advantages of opportunities when they arrives.

Here are some examples of people who used astrological cycles to makes millions if not billions of dollars:
JP Morgan was a very wealth American financier who used astrology for business timing purposes. His use of astrology for business made him a billionaire in the early part of the 1900's when a million dollars was a vast fortune!

Walt Disney used astrological cycles too. He chose his introduction and opening times for movies and theme parks based on astrological cycles. He made millions using well-thought out strategies.

Some examples of the ways planets affect business cycles:
Mars retrograde often coincides with disputes in business and legal entanglements. It can also indicate major corporate mistakes, such as launching a new product or service at an inopportune time due to impatience or being rushed into a quick decision.

Venus retrograde can coincide with lack of financing such as venture capital. Customer acceptance of a new product is less favourable during a Venus retrograde period and therefore would not be good timing.

Jupiter and Saturn cycles also relate to investment success. The Jupiter / Saturn cycle lasts approximately twenty years. This cycle relates to changes in the market emphasis and also to the contraction and expansion of the market. The aspects that these two planets make in your natal chart must be considered in the timing of your personal investments.

The World Financial Crisis - Astrological Explanations

The current financial crisis, affecting banks and financial institutions worldwide, is continuing. There seems to be no sign of any let up - in fact, it looks like the situation is worsening. America has just agreed yet another huge bailout of $700bn this time, and who knows when the next one will be triggered.

Astrology can show us what is likely to have caused the crisis and also for how long it will last. At the moment that the USA and possibly the UK are being the hardest hit. However, I think that it is important that other countries do not smugly sit by thinking that it is not coming their way. The USA economy affects the rest of the world and to a greater or lesser extent everyone will be affected.

What possibly contributed to the collapse of the financial system was Saturn quincunx Uranus - this happened at the time Lehman Brothers went into liquidation.

However, there are some huge astrological configurations coming up which seem to indicate that the problems are in their infancy and there is a lot more to be unearthed and come to light.

On the US election day, November 4th, Saturn is making an exact opposition to Uranus. Saturn represents the old order, the banks, government, and the way things have always been done. Uranus, on the other hand, shows a paradigm shift and radical and sudden change. This aspect happens 5 times between now and 2015. So it looks like things are just beginning to warm up.

Between 2011 and 2015, Pluto comes to square Uranus exactly 7 times during this period. In 2010, there is a cardinal T square of Uranus square Pluto and Uranus opposing Saturn - the last time this occurred was during the Great Depression. I am not saying that we have the same circumstances as the Great Depression, but I am suggesting that there is a similar gravity in world financial markets. This means that it is wise to be circumspect with your resources and even those who are very big risk takers may wish to reassess their situation in light of the unfolding chain of events in the marketplace.

What we are seeing in the markets now is the result of large-scale deregulation since 2000. Instead of allowing the property bubble to burst at the time, the banks continued to lend money, created all kinds of complex financial vehicles which even they themselves hardly understood, and their greed has led to the crisis in which we now find ourselves.

During Pluto's time in Sagittarius, we have seen excesses in all the markets. Sagittarius, being ruled by Jupiter, the planet of expansion, has the tendency to see situations using "rose-tinted glasses," and this has allowed this situation to escalate. Even now, with this latest "deal" that Washington has come up with, there is still the attempt to convince the public that all can be well. However, this is due to change very soon with Pluto going into Capricorn on November 26th. Pluto brings out what has been hidden, and Capricorn rules government and big business.

So once Pluto moves into Capricorn, there is likely to be a huge reality check. It will be a time of looking at the situation realistically and weeding out all the rotten elements that are currently there. With Pluto, all the secrets will come out anyway, there will be no choice. The difference is that governments will be required to change, big business will never be the same again and when this is all over, we will have a much cleaner system with a higher level of integrity.

In the meantime, I would recommend the following:
- be conservative with your resources
- make sure that you have some cash on hand (not in the bank)
- spread your monies with several banks - do not put all your eggs in one basket
- buy some gold. If gold is too expensive for you, at least buy some silver
Commodities are insurance in case the system really collapses.
- try to hold off buying or selling property at the moment
- if you are more of a risk-taker, consider buying other currencies especially Swiss Francs, Canadian Dollars and Japanese Yen.

Mercury Retrograde - what it means for you and what can you do about it

Mercury Retrograde - What is it all about?

Astronomers watch the planets each night as they travel through the zodiac. Mercury, which is only just visible before sunrise or just after sunset, travels in a forward direction most of the time. However, 3 or 4 times a year, if you watch carefully, it appears to turn around and go backwards for about 3 weeks. In fact, Mercury is not really going backwards, it's an optical illusion based on the relative speeds and orbits of the Earth and Mercury around the Sun.

For example, when you are riding in a fast car on the motorway and you are passing a slower moving car - the slower moving car appears to be moving backwards, but in reality it is not. It's the relative speed and direction of the two cars that creates that illusion. Mercury retrograde is similar to that.

It is important to be aware of the Mercury Retrograde that is starting on Wednesday 24th September and will stay there until October 15th.

What does Mercury Retrograde mean?
It is commonly known in astrological circles as "Murphy's Law" - i.e. if something can go wrong, it will. For example, it is a time when computers crash, software develops unexpected glitches, you get stuck in a traffic jam, equipment breaks down, letters get lost in the mail and new projects fail.

Mercury goes retrograde at least 3 times a year for about 3 weeks at least each time.

The general effect of Mercury retrograde is frustration and annoyance. Little things go wrong, especially connected with communications, verbal activity, technology, short trips and journeys. For the most part, Mercury retrograde produces lots of minor irritants - and there are several things you can do to protect yourself during Mercury retrogrades:
- if at all possible, avoid signing any legal documentation. For example, try not to sign a lease on a property.
- avoid starting new projects
- try to avoid making any big decisions
- if you can, finish up any projects that involve communication before the retrograde starts
- allow yourself extra time when travelling
- make sure you back up your hard drive and any other important information before the retrograde
- try not to install any new computer software at this time
- do any repairs on equipment before the retrograde starts

On the other hand, Mercury retrograde has some advantages. It is a great time to:
- follow up on projects that you have already started
- complete projects that you have put into motion
- research something in great detail - just make sure you dont take any action until Mercury has gone direct again
- catch up on any paperwork that has been languishing on your desk or in your drawers
- tidy up your computer and get everything into ordered folders

To find out how Mercury retrograde might affect you personally in your life usually requires a good knowledge of astrology. The best thing to do is to go for a reading to your astrologer. Check out my website for more information: http://www.yourastrologysigns.com/
